Phone calls pause for a few seconds, why?

Recently, I have been experiencing sudden interruptions of a few seconds in calls. For these brief periods, I cannot hear what the other person is saying, and neither can they hear me. This is not always happening, as I tested with both my phones and did not find any issues. When it happens during important phone conversations, it results in a few seconds of silence.

Prior to this occurrence, there was an update that popped up on my phone. After clicking it for one second, it updated itself. I am unsure if this has anything to do with the issue or if it's just coincidence. Restoring the settings could be a solution?
