Modifying an IMEI cannot prevent the base station from identifying your phone brand. In fact, the base station can obtain your phone brand, model, and current system through many UE to network signaling fields such as IMS SIP REGISTER. For example, in the IMS SIP REGISTER signal, the phone sends its own brand as User Agent to the base station.
