Two years ago, my wife dropped her brand new iPhone in the back of a taxi when we were shopping at the mall in Shenzhen. She was thinking it would be dead and just threw it into her bag, so she went to sleep right away. The next day, I found out that she had lost her phone. This really upset me because I bought it only two days ago. My wife is very tech-savvy but she thought her phone was gone forever. I didn't have any expectations for her either. I logged into her Apple ID on my computer and there was no information about where she left it or who the driver was. I called up the taxi company and they told me that there wasn't enough information to find out which company's car it was. When I paid for the cab, the money was given to me without any receipt. I asked them what department they checked the GPS from and they said it was from a department that deals with traffic monitoring. They could tell me which street she was on and I could check the traffic cameras to try and figure out where she got off the road. It was already late at night by then and I decided to go to the department the next morning to see if I could get some answers. The next morning, I checked her iPhone again to see if she had turned it on since I last saw it. Sure enough, it opened up again. I immediately took it to the department and explained to the manager that she had been using it all day and hadn't charged it yet. He said he'd call the police and report a theft. After calling the police, I told him that I wanted to make sure this happened as soon as possible and I gave him $50. He said that was too much and he wouldn't take it. I insisted and finally he agreed to give me $30. I thanked him and showed him the license plate number of the taxi. He told me that the driver had come to his office and was waiting outside. I gave him the $30 and he said he'd bring the phone over the next day. I was happy to hear that and went home to wait for the phone. A few hours later, the phone arrived and I called the man who had picked it up. He came down to my car and handed me the phone. I opened it and it was completely unharmed. I thanked him and he said that he had taken care of it and that everything was fine. I was relieved and thanked him again before hanging up the phone.
